Highway Maintenance Supervisor

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Highway Maintenance Supervisor to join our team at GeorgiaGov. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for supervising and guiding the work assignments of subordinate staff, ensuring the maintenance of highways, municipal and rural roads, runways, and rights-of-way.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and guide the work assignments of subordinate staff to ensure the maintenance of highways, municipal and rural roads, runways, and rights-of-way.
- Coordinate all highway activities to ensure efficient and effective maintenance operations.
- Assist the Foreman in supervising a crew performing routine maintenance activities on the state route system.
- Provide training for lower-level employees on safety procedures and preventive maintenance techniques on equipment.
- Enforce and comply with all required policies and procedures.
- Coordinate, plan, and direct all activities of a routine maintenance crew to accomplish tasks assigned by supervision or management.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with the traveling public.
- Evaluate personnel performance, provide feedback, and counseling for professional growth as necessary.
- Provide accuracy and completion of all monthly or semi-monthly required documents, forms, and reports.
- Operate and perform preventive maintenance on all assigned equipment to help accomplish the work.
- Perform regular inspections of state routes and rights-of-way throughout an assigned area for maintenance and safety needs.
- Facilitate team/crew response to emergencies on the assigned area state route system.
Minimum Qualifications:
The selected candidate must meet the advertised minimum qualifications, including State Entry Qualifications and Agency Specific Minimum Qualifications.
State Entry Qualifications:
- Two years of experience in equipment operation and/or repair, highway maintenance, or any other relevant experience.
- One year at the lower level Hwy Maintenance Tech 3 (FET012) or position equivalent.
- Valid driver's license.
Agency Minimum Qualifications:
- Three years of minimum proven/qualified industry experience with roadway maintenance or construction.
- Possession of a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License.
- Successful completion of MSD Level 1-4.
- Thorough knowledge of maintenance activities in the area of assignment.
- Proven experience and working knowledge with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
Agency Preferred Qualifications:
- Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License Class A.
- Possession of CDL Tanker Endorsement.
- Possession of CDL Hazardous Material Endorsement.
- Working knowledge of GAMS/Agile Assets.
