Compensation: $34.19 per hour

This electrical technician role demands a versatile, well-trained, and seasoned professional. Skills typically gained through a formal apprenticeship and practical experience are essential. Key responsibilities include the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. Duties encompass replacing faulty circuit breakers, switches, fuses, and other electrical components. You will utilize your understanding of electrical principles to diagnose and resolve issues in systems such as generators, transformers, switchboards, motors, motor controllers, circuit breakers, and conduit systems. Adherence to blueprints, schematics, and relevant engineering specifications is crucial. Proficiency with various electrician's hand tools and testing instruments is required. You will also install conduit using threading, cutting, and bending tools. Additional tasks may be assigned as necessary.

Preferred Qualifications: AMMO-29 Certification (Electrical Explosive Safety for Naval Facilities)

Essential Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess at least one of the following:
    • Certification from an accredited technical school's Electrical Maintenance level 2 program
    • Completion of an approved/certified apprenticeship program with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in the industrial electrical sector
    • At least two (2) years of verifiable experience as a journey-level Electrician in commercial and industrial electrical maintenance with systems of 600 VAC and below.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints and wiring diagrams.
  • Familiarity with electrical testing instruments.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills using a systematic approach for AC and DC electrical control systems, including motors, motor controls, transformers, switchgear, and electrical panels.
  • Strong background in control wiring and troubleshooting.
  • Capability to read and interpret NEC Table reproductions in the Ugly's manual for wire size and conduit fill requirements.
  • Ability to prepare and report on electrical project status and complete as-builts.
  • Must be able to work at heights using mechanical lifting devices (e.g., man lifts) up to 300 feet.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a license for operating mechanical lifting devices up to and including 132 feet.
  • CPR certification is required.
  • Must wear hard-toed safety shoes that meet ASTM F standards at all times.
  • Possession of a valid state driver's license is necessary.
  • Must have the standard tools of the trade.
  • The successful candidate will undergo a government security investigation and must consistently meet eligibility criteria for access to all areas of Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay.
