About Our Job

The City and County of Denver is seeking multiple Security Officers to work at the Central Library in downtown Denver. As a Security Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for customers and staff.

Job Summary

We are looking for individuals with a solid customer service background and a commitment to providing a safe and welcoming environment to everyone who uses the library. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of loss prevention, security equipment, and de-escalation techniques. They will also be able to exercise quick and mature judgment in dealing with potentially disruptive or abusive customers and emergencies.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for customers and staff
  • Respond to emergencies and incidents in a timely and professional manner
  • Provide excellent customer service and support to library customers
  • Work collaboratively with library staff to resolve issues and concerns
  • Complete concise and grammatically correct reports
Requirements
  • One year of civilian or military experience in security, safety, loss prevention, or law enforcement
  • A high school diploma or equivalency
  • A current Colorado driver's license with a good driving record, or ability to obtain one within one year of hire
What We Offer

The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary range of $18.29 - $22.86 per hour. We also provide uniforms and training to all of our officers to ensure they are well equipped for all situations.
