Bullhorn is seeking a detail-oriented systems-focused technologist to join our highly skilled Technical Operations team as a Junior Systems Operations Engineer. This role is integral to the Technical Operations team and reports directly to the Site Reliability Engineering Lead/Manager. In this capacity, you will be tasked with constructing, deploying, troubleshooting, and overseeing products and solutions within Bullhorn's production environment, ensuring continuous availability and optimal performance. A solid understanding of JVM, Kubernetes, and public cloud technologies, along with expertise in Windows services and configurations, is essential. The ideal candidate will possess substantial technical experience and a robust foundation in operating systems and networking skills. This role will involve application troubleshooting expertise as well as experience with both on-premises and cloud infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the operational integration of new product lines and guarantee operational readiness.
    • Assess, enhance, and implement monitoring and alerting systems.
    • Incorporate new product lines into established operational workflows.
    • Execute migrations and automated deployments as required.
    • Collaborate with Systems Architecture to align infrastructure with industry best practices.
  • Construct, deploy, manage, and automate products and solutions for Bullhorn's production environments.
  • Develop and sustain system analysis and reporting tools, as well as automation tools.
  • Identify and contribute to strategies aimed at continuous improvement for operational efficiency.
  • Maintain system and network configurations for both national and international data centers.
  • Oversee and maintain all production system equipment and services.
  • Provide mentorship, training, and technical guidance to System Administration team members.
  • Ensure 24/7 availability of the production application environment, including on-call responsibilities on a rotating basis as the Technical Lead resource.
  • Document processes and procedures, testing plans, project plans, and architectural diagrams.
  • Offer direct support and collaborate on projects with Software Development, Quality Engineering, Customer Support, Professional Services, and third-party vendors as necessary to implement new solutions or resolve production issues.
Qualifications:
  • 6+ years of relevant hands-on experience in systems administration, along with hardware and software troubleshooting in a multi-tenant, multi-product environment with high external user volume.
  • Experience in automation and managing extensive server environments using tools such as Helm, Puppet, Ansible, or similar.
  • Proficiency in building and managing public cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Expertise in administering Linux-based systems (mandatory) and Windows Server (preferred).
  • Experience with containerized and virtualized environments such as Kubernetes and KVM/VMWare.
  • Familiarity with scripting in Bash, Python, PowerShell, or comparable languages.
  • Experience with monitoring and visibility systems such as Prometheus, Icinga, Grafana, ELK, Splunk, or similar.
  • Prior experience in a SaaS and/or high-traffic website environment is highly desirable, as we serve over 10,000 customers with more than 200,000 users.
  • Knowledge of SAN and NAS technologies (iSCSI, FCP, CIFS, NFS, etc.).
  • Experience in high-pressure environments.
  • Previous on-call experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience managing Java-based applications running on Tomcat or JBoss application servers.
  • Experience with onboarding acquisitions and integrating new product lines with existing processes and teams.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP network technologies.
