Tractor Trailer Driver

As a key member of the Waste Management team, you will operate a tractor-trailer or straight truck with a pup trailer to perform assigned duties on designated routes. Your primary responsibility will be to safely transport waste and recyclables to various locations, while maintaining a clean and safe vehicle.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Operating the vehicle in accordance with OSHA and DOT regulations, as well as company expectations for the Fleet.
  • Performing pre- and post-trip inspections of the assigned vehicle, noting any issues on the eDVIR form for corrective review/repair.
  • Reporting any unsafe situations or unscheduled service calls to the Route Manager and Dispatch before attempting service.
  • Participating in all scheduled training, briefings, and meetings as required by the Route Manager.
  • Working closely with the Route Manager and Dispatch to improve route efficiencies and identify problem or unsafe accounts.
  • Performing all duties as scheduled by the Route Manager and Dispatch, assisting other company drivers as directed.
  • Notifying the Route Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
  • Notifying the Route Manager and Dispatch of issues as prescribed by the Service Machine protocol, including blocked containers, services that cannot be completed, or problems that arise on the route.
  • Communicating customer requests, issues, or service changes to the Route Manager and Dispatch.
  • Completely dumping all containers and leaving the customer's location clean and free of debris.
  • Positioning containers on the customer's property in a manner that ensures containers do not block driveway entrances or traffic.
  • Following route assignments throughout the day and completing all documentation when checking-in at the end of the route.

Requirements include:

  • Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A upon hire.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Successfully complete pre-employment DOT drug screen and DOT physical.
