Position Summary

The Cost Control Accountant at Miller Castings INC is essential in evaluating, overseeing, and managing expenses linked to production processes, inventory oversight, and overall operational efficiency. This role demands exceptional analytical capabilities, expertise in ERP systems, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments to deliver precise cost evaluations, financial insights, and strategic guidance.

Compensation Range: $80K - $120K

Core Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update cost accounting records using ERP software, including standard costs, cost allocations, and cost centers.
  • Examine manufacturing expenses, such as raw materials, labor, overhead, and variances, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of cost data within the ERP system.
  • Develop and sustain standard cost models for all products/services, taking into account factors like material costs, labor rates, overhead expenses, and production variances.
  • Generate and analyze cost variance reports, comparing actual costs to standard costs while identifying variances, trends, and underlying causes.
  • Collaborate with production, procurement, and engineering teams to explore cost variances, pinpoint cost-saving opportunities, and implement corrective measures.
  • Conduct regular inventory reconciliations and perform cost of goods sold (COGS) analysis to guarantee accurate inventory valuation and cost of sales.
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting processes by providing cost projections, analyzing trends, and identifying potential risks and opportunities.
  • Assist in formulating cost reduction strategies and continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and minimizing costs.
  • Participate in ERP system implementation projects, upgrades, and enhancements related to cost accounting modules.
  • Ensure adherence to accounting principles, regulatory standards, and internal controls concerning cost accounting and financial reporting within the ERP system.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience with ERP software systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in cost accounting, financial analysis, or similar roles within a manufacturing or production setting.
  • Strong analytical skills with the capability to interpret data, analyze trends, and derive meaningful insights.
  • Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, enabling collaboration with cross-functional teams and the clear presentation of complex financial information.
  • Proactive problem-solving abilities focused on continuous improvement and achieving results.
  • Knowledge of cost accounting principles, manufacturing processes, and inventory management concepts.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, or other process improvement techniques is advantageous.
