Compensation Package

  • Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) can earn up to $34.50 per hour
  • RNs can earn up to $43.00 per hour

About the Admission Nurse Role

The admission nurse will work closely with our interdisciplinary team to complete comprehensive assessments, develop care plans, and ensure accurate documentation. This involves participating in the MDS process, collaborating with other MDS nurses, and supervising under the guidance of the Director of Nursing.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Participate in the MDS process following the RAI manual
  2. Collaborate with other MDS nurses to complete initial assessments for new admissions
  3. Supervised by the Director of Nursing to ensure effective management of patient admissions, scheduling, order entry, initiating care plans, and ensuring necessary equipment is available at admission
  4. Contribute to required submissions weekly or as designated by the Director of Nursing, reviewing validation reports for accuracy
  5. Stay updated on Quality Measures (QM's) and participate in Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) initiatives to enhance resident outcomes
  6. Engage in IDT Medicare and Medicaid meetings to collaborate with IDT and complete the MDS process
  7. Develop/update comprehensive care plan and nurse aide care plan (Kardex) in conjunction with MDS to accurately address resident needs
  8. Verify non-nursing sections of MDS and Comprehensive Assessment Protocols (CAA's) accurately represent resident needs
  9. Coordinate, manage, and monitor care plans, identifying problems/needs of residents and goals by reviewing order recap reports and nurses' notes to ensure care plans are followed and determine need for OBRA MDS assessment
  10. Monitor residents for change of status to determine need for significant change per RAI
  11. Ensure supportive documentation is accurate according to MDS/RAI regulations
  12. Collaborate with facility consultants as necessary and implement recommended changes as required
  13. Complete required paperwork/AIMS, Fall Risk scale, Braden, Progress note, Care Plan, nurse aide care plan (Kardex)

Professional Requirements

  • Current LPN or RN license for the state where the facility is located
  • Flexibility with working schedule and ability to work independently
  • Understanding of the MDS process and willingness to continue learning and staying current with MDS updates set by CMS
  • Prior knowledge of PDPM (skilled reimbursement) and RUG (Long Term Care reimbursement) preferred
