Advanced Prototype Machinist

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze technical drawings and solid model CAD files.
• Determine optimal methods for producing high-quality components within specified cycle times.
• Utilize CAM software to develop efficient and repeatable toolpaths.
• Set up and operate 3-axis and 5-axis CNC mills as well as CNC lathes.
• Conduct inspections of parts to meet internal quality standards.
• Create and maintain setup documentation in accordance with company protocols.
• Ensure that finished components are properly deburred and visually appealing.
• Complete tasks within designated timelines.
• Commit to continuous learning and improvement.
• Uphold accountability to performance metrics and core values.
• Perform additional duties as required.

Essential Qualifications

• Applicants must be U.S. Citizens or Green Card holders due to ITAR compliance.
• Physical ability to lift 50 lbs and pass a drug screening and background check.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in operating, setting up, and programming CNC mills and lathes.
• At least 3 years of CAD/CAM experience.
• Familiarity with GD&T principles.
• Capability to adjust programs for optimal speed, reliability, and tool longevity.
• Proficient in calculating and modifying tool paths for ideal speeds and feeds.
• Strong troubleshooting skills in machining processes.

Comprehensive Knowledge of:

• G and M codes.
• Measuring techniques and best practices.
• Various tooling types and machining processes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a LEAN Manufacturing or 5S environment.
• Background in an ISO9001 or AS9100D certified organization.
• Proficiency in 5-axis milling (3+2 or simultaneous 5).
• Experience with machining small components.
• Ability to work with tolerances of .0005" or tighter.
• Familiarity with high-speed machining and micro tooling.
• Experience with robotic automation.
• Knowledge of 3D profiling techniques.
• Experience with live tooling and sub-spindle operations on lathes.
• Skills in manual milling, turning, and grinding.
• Experience with Wire EDM and Abrasive Waterjet processes.
