Job Summary:

The Cardiovascular Technologist is a highly skilled professional responsible for performing invasive and non-invasive cardiac testing procedures. This role requires proficiency in cardiopulmonary anatomy, sterile technique, and hemodynamic collection and analysis. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and possess a strong understanding of scientific principles related to cardiovascular technology.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist physicians in performing diagnostic procedures, including PCI and diagnostic testing.
  • Collect and analyze hemodynamic parameters and arrhythmias for final diagnostic reports.
  • Operate computer systems, monitors, and other diagnostic equipment.
  • Recognize and report abnormal hemodynamic parameters and arrhythmias.
  • Provide patient care by ensuring patient information, comfort measures, and awareness are considered.
  • Maintain accurate record keeping for patient identification.
  • Calibrate, maintain, and document daily measurements and adjustments for quality improvement programs.
  • Promote effective working relationships to facilitate department goals and objectives.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to ensure knowledge and skills are current.
Requirements:
  • CPR certification.
  • Knowledge of sterile technique and ability to work in a sterile environment.
  • Scientific principles related to cardiovascular technology.
  • Primary arrhythmia interpretation.
  • Effective communication and confidentiality with professional staff, patients, and families.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to patient elements, including blood-borne pathogens.
  • High School Diploma.
  • One to two years of experience in a clinical cardiology setting.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to access internet and other programs applicable to Waterbury Hospital procedures.
