JOB SUMMARY:

The Lead Financial Analyst will collaborate with the Controller to facilitate and ensure an efficient and accurate month-end closing process.

This role involves supporting the Controller in loan accounting evaluations, cash management, banking relationships, and enhancing customer service.

The Lead Financial Analyst will provide support and backup for all accounting functions performed by the accounting team as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include but are not limited to the following. Additional responsibilities may be assigned.

  • Exhibit a thorough understanding of all General Ledger accounts and their implications;
  • Assist in maintaining accurate balances in accounts, ensuring the integrity of all financial records;
  • Comprehend and optimize the use of all Company software related to accounting operations;
  • Adhere to and train on all Company and departmental policies and Best Practices to guarantee the completeness of financial records;
  • Oversee loan accounting transactions to ensure precision, comprehension, and completion;
  • Support the Controller and the department in the effective implementation of new or revised accounting practices and procedures as necessary to align with Company and departmental objectives;
  • Thoroughly review and authorize Accounts Payable bill payments submitted by the Accounting Team;
  • Execute daily cash transfers to maintain appropriate balances in all Company checking accounts; Proactively identify and report cash management issues;
  • Initiate wire transfers and ACH transactions as required;
  • Ensure timely deposits of received checks; Review Cash Receipts and Deposits as they are recorded;
  • Assist in tracking and collecting First Payments Receivable;
  • Monitor all Trust deposits and related liabilities to ensure timely reconciliation of assets and liabilities;
  • Manage warehouse transactions, ensuring prompt responses to Operations Personnel and Warehouse Representatives;


  • Assist the team in ensuring timely receipt and recording of Investor Purchase Advices and prompt pay down of Warehouse balances as applicable;
  • Manage banking relationships and documentation, ensuring continuity, dual controls, and backup for all accounts and banking transactions;
  • Address loan-related inquiries with accuracy and promptness;
  • Support the Post Close Representative by addressing questions regarding Post Close discrepancies for effective resolution;
  • Assist the Post Close Representative with post-close escrow reviews and analyses, ensuring all discrepancies are resolved and funds are disbursed as required;
  • Support Purchase Clearing with post-close warranty work loans to achieve optimal results;
  • Assist the Controller in investigating and reviewing loan losses for potential submission to arbitration or reimbursement; Proactively ensure the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of loan files;
  • Foster departmental success through coaching for clear understanding of task requirements and by promoting an environment conducive to teamwork, creativity, and quality;
  • Successfully complete and comply with annual AML/Fraud training and other mandatory training as assigned.
  • Meet expectations for attendance, punctuality, and scheduling.
  • Maintain a highly secure workspace area.
  • Ensure controls and security are in place over access to all Company accounts and sensitive information.
  • Demonstrate cooperative behavior and positive interaction with supervisors, Company team members, departments, branch personnel, and investors, ensuring all communications are conducted in a courteous, professional, and timely manner.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • High School Diploma or GED required.
    • 4+ years of experience in accounting or finance-related roles.
    • 2+ years of experience in the mortgage industry
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred, or additional relevant work experience
