A Polysomnographic Staff Technician plays a crucial role in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders at Bon Secours Mercy Health. This position requires a high level of technical expertise and attention to detail, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct comprehensive polysomnographic testing and analysis, adhering to national, state, and departmental guidelines.
- Screen, determine, and incorporate specialized systems to enhance the technical quality of procedures.
- Provide patient education and orientation to the sleep center.
- Prepare and calibrate equipment, ensuring proper functioning and making adjustments as needed.
- Apply electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards.
- Perform physiologic calibrations to ensure proper signals and make adjustments if necessary.
- Conduct polysomnographic procedures, following procedural protocols to ensure collection of appropriate data.
- Document routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events.
- Implement appropriate interventions, including actions necessary for patient safety and therapeutic intervention.
- Assist with scoring sleep/wake stages and clinical events, applying professionally accepted guidelines.
- Assist with the generation of accurate reports, tabulating sleep/wake and clinical event data.
- Successful completion of a polysomnography, respiratory, or neurophysiology program, or equivalent experience.
- Current CPR, BCLS, and CRTT or RRT certification, with CEU maintenance as required.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills, with the ability to follow direction.
- Ability to analyze complex situations and apply policy.
