Job Title: Pump Station Technician

York County, VA is seeking a skilled Pump Station Technician to join our team.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Pump Station Technician to perform skilled work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of our potable water utility system. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring the performance of pumps and motors at our deep water well facilities and performing preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment such as pumps, motors, water tanks, fire hydrants, water meters, valves, etc.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform skilled work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of the County's potable water utility system.
  • Monitor the performance of pumps and motors at County deep water well facilities.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment such as pumps, motors, water tanks, fire hydrants, water meters, valves, etc.
  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • Graduation from high school, and some experience in operating hand and power tools.
    • Previous experience in water systems operations, meter reading, water sampling, or a related field is preferred.
    • Certification in backflow testing or the ability to obtain certification within one year.
    • Strong technical aptitude and knowledge of water system equipment maintenance.
  • Physical Demands:
    • Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment and machinery including generators, pumps, valves, tanks, controls, and various mechanic's equipment and tools.
    • Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle.
    • Work involves occasional lifting (weight varying between pounds) and pushing and pulling, and hoisting of parts and equipment weighing between 40 and 50 pounds.
Requirements:
  • Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia with a good driving record.
  • DMV records check conducted prior to employment, if applicable.
