Job Summary

We are seeking a Recreation Leader to join our team. As a Recreation Leader, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, leading, and supervising daily activities such as group games, sports, arts and crafts, special events, and contests. Availble Opportunities and Schedules include Afterschool Program, Alta Vista Facility, Senior Centers, Summer Camp Counselor, Seaside Lagoon Cashier and Maintenance, and more.

Duties and Responsibilities

Your duties may include but not be limited to participating in staff trainings and meetings, promoting the program, recruiting participants, keeping accurate records, ensuring participant safety, and planning, organizing, leading, and supervising daily activities. You may be required to perform other related duties as assigned. Available shifts include approximately 20 hours per week and up to 950 hours per year. Temporary, part-time (PT), at-will position. Hourly salary will be offered depending on qualifications. Part-time employees are not eligible for City health and retirement benefits. Part-time employees receive paid sick leave in accordance with California state law. The provisions of this bulletin do not constitute an expressed or implied contract. Any provision contained in this bulletin may be modified or revoked without notice. In accordance with Public Resources Code Section 5164, the City of Redondo Beach shall not hire a person or permit a person to volunteer to perform services at a City operated park, playground, and/or recreation center in a position having supervisory or disciplinary authority over any minor if that person has been convicted of violating Section 220, 261.5, 262, 273a, 273d, 273.5 or 290 of the California Penal Code. Therefore, to assist us in determining your eligibility to work for the City of Redondo Beach in a position having supervisory or disciplinary authority over any minor, you must complete this supplemental questionnaire. The information obtained will be kept confidential and will only be used for the stated purpose. If you are selected for a position with the City of Redondo Beach, prior to employment or volunteer service, you will be required to submit to a Live Scan fingerprinting/Department of Justice records check.
