As a Data Scientist specializing in Algorithmic Optimization, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of ride-sharing by developing mathematical models that optimize our platform's core services. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance algorithms for matching ride supply and demand in real-time, and develop product offerings that improve the experiences of Lyft riders and drivers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Engineers, Product Managers, and Business Partners to frame problems and develop mathematical solutions.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis to gain a deeper understanding of the problem and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Construct and fit statistical, machine learning, or optimization models to drive business decisions.
  • Write production modeling code and collaborate with Software Engineers to implement algorithms in production.
  • Design and run experiments to test and validate model performance.
  • Analyze experimental and observational data to communicate findings and inform business decisions.

Requirements:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Statistics, Operations Research, Mathematics, Computer Science, or other quantitative fields.
  • 2+ years of professional experience in data science or a related field.
  • Passion for solving complex mathematical problems and driving business outcomes.
  • End-to-end experience with data, including querying, aggregation, analysis, and visualization.
  • Proficiency with Python or another interpreted programming language like R or Matlab.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
