Nurse Practitioner

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team at the Pocahontas State Correctional Center. As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to adult inmates, utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care to adult inmates, including 24-hour nursing care, telemedicine, chronic care clinics, sick call screenings/triage, medication administration, patient education, and basic life supporting/emergency care.
• Document all pertinent information into the health record, maintaining confidentiality and interfacing with other departments as needed.
• Delegate tasks and workload, working hours, days, and locations as assigned, and provide coverage as needed to meet institutional needs.
• Provide evidence-based nursing care and promote continued competence through education and certification, with a focus on correctional nursing.

Requirements:

• Possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted Virginia RN license.
• Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers, with current certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Experience in a correctional setting is preferred.
