We are seeking a skilled Scrap Metal Processor to work with our team at SA Recycling. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the unloading, processing, and disassembly of various types of scrap metal, ensuring the highest quality of scrap material is processed and shipped to our customers in a safe and effective manner.

This position requires a strong work ethic, reliability, and a commitment to safety. You will work outside in varying weather conditions, and SA Recycling strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.

The working hours for this position are from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Fridays, and Saturdays from 8:00 - 11:30 am. SA Recycling offers a competitive pay, eligibility for safety and profitability bonuses, comprehensive benefits, and advancement opportunities.

Responsibilities of a Scrap Metal Processor include:

  • Basic sorting of scrap, as well as metal and debris in preparation for processing.
  • Providing a safe environment for all employees, customers, and visitors.
  • Operating equipment such as a forklift and skid steer.
  • Performing daily inspections on equipment and reporting any defects or needed repairs to the supervisor.
  • Preparing autos for processing, including the removal of designated parts, fluids, etc.
  • General clean up and yard maintenance, including digging, sweeping, and maintenance of weeds and brush.
  • Providing backup or assistance throughout the yard as needed or assigned.
  • Complying with all applicable federal, state, local, and SA Recycling safety, health, and environmental rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications of a Scrap Metal Processor include:

  • A high school diploma, GED certification, or equivalent work experience.
  • 1-year previous general labor in the scrap metal or construction industries preferred.
  • Skid Loader/Skid Steer/Forklift experience preferred.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) a plus.
  • Ability to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
  • Ability to learn new tasks as assigned required.
