Survey Crew Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Survey Crew Member to join our team at RICK ENGINEERING COMPANY.
This position is primarily responsible for performing tasks in the field under the direction of an experienced Survey Crew Chief.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supports Crew Chief on construction staking assignments such as basic field calculations, assisting in boundary monument recovery, brush clearing, utility inventories of equipment.
- Prepares construction staking materials for daily use.
- Monitors conditions of equipment and reports repair needs as necessary.
- Loads and unloads equipment from survey vehicle daily.
- Maintains survey equipment including electronic total stations, GNSS units, antenna, radios, cables, batteries, modems, tripods, rods, levels, generators, traffic control devices, etc.
Requirements:
- High school diploma/GED and one (1) year of related work experience preferred but we are willing to train exceptional individuals.
- Average communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Ability to travel overnight and/or out of town.
- Ability to work overtime as required.
- Pass a pre-employment driver's license background check and maintain satisfactory driving record, as required by our insurance company.
- Follow instructions from the Survey Crew Chief.
- Adhere to established survey procedures and safety guidelines.
- Ability to work with survey-related mathematical concepts (proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume, slope, elevations, coordinates, etc.).
- Assist the crew chief with the setup and breakdown of survey equipment at job sites.
- Assist the crew chief with collecting and verifying accurate field data for various types of surveys.
- Assist the crew chief with recording detailed and precise field notes, sketches, and reports.
- Assist with data transfer from field instruments to office computers and perform preliminary data processing.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed primarily in outdoor environments, construction sites, roadways, and often in remote and rugged locations.
- Exposure to various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind.
- Physical demands include standing for extended periods, walking on uneven/steep terrain, and carrying equipment.
