Job Overview: The Culinary Specialist is an entry-level role that operates under the supervision of the Sous Chef, ensuring adherence to the standards set by the Executive Chef for food preparation and presentation in the designated kitchen area. This encompasses various tasks including preparation, tasting, presentation, and maintaining sanitation standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare a variety of ingredients for cooking, which includes washing, chopping, slicing, and peeling fruits and vegetables.
  • Cook food using various methods such as baking, broiling, frying, steaming, braising, and boiling; ensure meals are flavorful, visually appealing, and taste-tested prior to serving, while also providing garnishes for plating.
  • Deliver high-quality, fresh meals to guests by utilizing standardized recipes and preparation techniques.
  • Manage waste effectively by adhering to proper production levels and portion guidelines.
  • Store and label prepared and opened food in compliance with food safety regulations.
  • Implement proper food storage practices and adhere to appropriate food serving temperatures.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment by following established housekeeping procedures during work hours.
  • Assist with the setup, service, and cleanup of food production activities.
  • Rotate stock to ensure timely usage and disposal before expiration dates.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
  • Possession of a Food Safety Certification.
  • A minimum of six months of culinary experience or an equivalent combination of culinary education and experience.
