Job Title: Full Time School Bus Driver

Job Summary:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced School Bus Driver to join our team at Miami-Yoder School District. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing safe and efficient transportation to students, ensuring their safety and well-being during transit.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform daily pre and post-trip inspections on the bus or van to ensure it is in good working condition.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the bus and ensure it is free from any hazards.
  • Report any unsafe vehicle conditions to the Transportation Director.
  • Complete and maintain all necessary paperwork, including accident reports and maintenance records.
  • Obey all traffic laws and regulations, and drive the bus according to established routes and schedules.
  • Pick up and discharge students only at authorized stops.
  • Discipline students fairly and consistently, and maintain a positive and professional demeanor at all times.
  • Work effectively with staff, students, and the public to ensure a safe and efficient transportation experience.
  • Report all accidents and complete required reports in a timely manner.
  • Perform first aid and CPR functions as necessary in emergency situations.

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Obtain and maintain a Colorado Class B P25 Commercial Driver's License.
  • Obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Have a motor vehicle record check.
  • Pass a DOT Physical examination.
  • Submit to Drug and Alcohol testing prior to and during employment.

Travel Requirements:
  • Travels to and from school district buildings, vehicle service stations, field trip locations, and other destinations as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of all traffic laws, regulations, road signs, and related information.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate the bus, conduct pre-trip inspections, and clean the bus.
  • Visual and auditory acuity within professionally determined normal ranges, with correction if needed.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Ability to learn and comprehend information from procedures manuals and other materials.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow traffic signs required.
  • Ability to physically move through the bus, center, and classrooms.
  • Ability to maintain composure and perform responsibilities under pressure and in cases of accidents or other emergencies.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
