Job Summary

The Night Auditor is responsible for verifying the accuracy of guest accounts by balancing each department's income. This includes posting room and tax charges to guest folios, as well as providing guest assistance and monitoring the safety and security of the hotel during the night shift.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Complete posting of all charges.
  • Receive and record guest payments.
  • Post room, tax, and local calls for the day, ensuring that total room revenue balances to the room revenue report.
  • Prepare a revenue report including all day rates.
  • Prepare and have ready by 7 a.m. each day the Housekeeper's Report, listing the status of check-outs, stay-over, vacant, and out-of-order rooms for the night just ended.
  • Assign rooms in a courteous and efficient manner to all incoming guests.
  • Maintain the daily walk-in reservation count sheet.
  • Pay special attention to the phone and follow basic rules of courtesy.
  • Record and make all wake-up calls properly.
  • Provide information to guests in a courteous manner.
  • Know and follow policies and procedures in emergency situations.
  • Complete the night audit by change of shift at 7 a.m. and provide information to other department heads, especially any information relating to the morning's breakfast business and meeting set-ups.
  • Complete duties and confirm on shift checklist as assigned.
  • Complete various other duties assigned by Supervisor.
Requirements
  • Hotel Night Auditor experience preferred.
  • Prior Hotel Guest Services Representative strongly preferred.
  • Ability to process math calculations.
  • Office skills and technology, accounting/bookkeeping preferred.

  • Occasional squatting and kneeling plus lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 25 lbs.
