Job Overview

As a Systems Tester, you will deliver second-level support for Common Support Services-Weather (CSS-Wx), utilizing your expertise in software requirements analysis, design, reviews, development, testing, integration, installation, and maintenance of intricate computer systems.

CSS-Wx serves as the primary source of weather data, products, and imagery within the National Airspace System (NAS), employing standards-based weather dissemination through System Wide Information Management (SWIM). The service provides both NOAA and FAA NextGen Weather Processing (NWP) products for incorporation into air traffic decision support tools, enhancing the quality of traffic management decisions and alleviating controller workload during adverse weather conditions. Products are accessible via a suite of common Web Services for weather, adhering to internationally recognized data access and format standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development, testing, integration, and deployment of the CSS-Wx system while tracking PTR activities.
  • Engage in system testing and key site testing as a tester.
  • Participate in system design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and other relevant meetings to support the program and team.
  • Provide expertise in the development and enhancement of web applications.
  • Contribute to regular meetings and teleconferences with the Program Office.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Mathematics, or a Bachelor's degree in another technical field with at least thirty (30) semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science, accompanied by twelve (12) years of relevant work experience in a computer science or mathematics field; OR

A Master's degree in any field of study with a minimum of thirty semester hours of either undergraduate or graduate study in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science, along with nine (9) years of relevant work experience; OR

A PhD or Doctoral degree in a related field with at least thirty (30) semester hours of either undergraduate or graduate study in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science.

Technical Skills:

  • Ability to support software applications in both Linux and Windows environments.
  • Proficient in debugging software issues across Linux and Windows platforms.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Knowledge of Linux shell scripting for application software testing and administration.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, and SQL.
  • Strong testing experience, with the ability to develop comprehensive test documentation, including test plans, procedures, and reports.
  • Capability to design and execute testing activities with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in troubleshooting, fault isolation, and system restoration.
