Position Overview:
The Certified Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) provides essential direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

This role encompasses a range of personalized patient care tasks, including assistance with bathing, dressing, feeding, and transportation, along with other non-professional services vital for addressing the personal needs and comfort of the elderly patient demographic.


Key Responsibilities:
+ Upholds patient confidentiality for all residents.
+ Aids residents in daily living activities and feeding.
+ Executes transfers and lifts according to facility protocols.
+ Completes thorough and timely documentation in the facility's electronic medical record (EMR) system.
+ Offers support and companionship to patients.
+ Assists residents with the use of assistive devices.
+ Ensures patient safety by adhering to infection control protocols, including universal precautions.
+ Alerts the supervising nurse of any unusual findings or conditions.
+ Maintains cleanliness and organization of patient rooms.
+ Helps with the organization of residents' laundry and personal belongings.
+ Assists nursing staff with admissions and discharges to the unit.
+ Prepares patients for appointments or transfers.

Qualifications:
+ Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with Geriatric Certification is required.
+ Experience with memory care patients is preferred.
+ A minimum of one year of experience as a certified nursing assistant in geriatric care within the last three years is preferred.
+ Graduate from a certified nursing assistant program with documentation as a certified nursing assistant in accordance with state requirements, including proof of active certification and ability to work with geriatric patients as per state regulations.

Additional Requirements:
+ Knowledge of medical terminology and clerical functions.
+ Compliance with all relevant professional standards of practice.
+ Participation in Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
+ Current CPR certification.
+ TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable.
+ Current health certificate as per contract or state regulations.
+ Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
+ Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to the job site.
+ Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
+ Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively provide and elicit information from appropriate individuals, including supervisors and co-workers; proficiency in the English language is required.
+ Computer proficiency is required.
+ Must be at least 18 years of age.
