Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educator to join our team at Brookville Center for Children's Services. As a Special Educator, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality educational services to children with disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to meet the unique needs of each child.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to ensure a comprehensive and supportive learning environment.
  • Provide direct instruction and support to students with special needs, adapting teaching methods to meet their individual learning styles.
  • Assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians to keep them informed of their child's progress and involve them in the educational process.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in special education.
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes social, emotional, and academic growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • New York State Certification in Special Education.
  • Minimum one year of experience working with children with disabilities, preferably in a special education setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities, with a focus on delivering high-quality services to children and families.
