The ideal candidate will have experience in air compressor repairs, along with the knowledge and skills necessary for the effective use of related equipment and proven troubleshooting methodologies.
Key ResponsibilitiesA Blake & Pendleton Service Technician is responsible for providing maintenance and repair support to our diverse clientele, which spans various industries such as manufacturing, utilities, forestry, and mining. While primarily focused on Sullair compressed air systems, the technician will also support a range of other equipment designs. Therefore, a strong background and a commitment to continuous skill enhancement are essential as equipment modifications evolve.
Service Technicians are required to have the necessary safety training and certifications as mandated by industry standards (e.g., OSHA, MSHA). Although technicians follow a fixed work schedule, they may need to adjust their hours based on customer requests and participate in an on-call rotation as directed by the Service Manager.
Physical RequirementsTechnicians must be capable of lifting over 50 lbs regularly and occasionally exceeding 100 lbs. The role also requires climbing ladders, carrying lubricant containers weighing between 25 lbs and 55 lbs, and performing physical tasks in various weather conditions.
QualificationsELECTRICAL SKILLS:
- Proficient in troubleshooting 120V control circuits.
- Able to read and interpret wiring diagrams.
- Experience in troubleshooting and repairing single-phase and three-phase motor control circuits up to 480V, including full voltage, reduced voltage, and soft starters.
- Skilled in using multimeters, ammeters, and infrared meters.
- Ability to meet company and customer safety standards while performing tasks.
MECHANICAL SKILLS:
- Ability to read and understand P&I drawings.
- Experience in troubleshooting and repairing various air compressor control components.
- Capable of performing routine maintenance, including oil changes and cleaning.
- Proficient in setting up rigging equipment and safely removing and reinstalling motors and compressors.
- Skilled in performing motor alignments.
- Competent in using hand and power tools such as drills, grinders, and band saws.
- Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components.
- Knowledge of various piping types, including copper, black, and galvanized.
- Familiarity with threading, sweating, brazing, and welding is advantageous.
- Able to bend and install control tubing, including 1/4" and 5/16" stainless steel tubing.
REFRIGERATION: EPA certifications with Freon experience are a plus.
Job Duties Include:- Conducting quarterly, semi-annual, and annual preventive maintenance.
- Accurately diagnosing and repairing machinery issues.
- Performing start-up procedures on newly installed equipment.
- Daily communication with the Service Coordinator.
- Submitting completed timesheets and service tickets to the Service Coordinator each day.
- Wearing a clean company uniform and maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Keeping the service vehicle clean and organized.
- Maintaining a level of physical fitness necessary for the role and operating a company service vehicle.
