Class A Truck Driver Job Description

We are seeking experienced and recent graduate Class A truck drivers to join our team at American Driver. As a Class A truck driver, you will be responsible for hauling 53' dry van trailers on OTR routes, with the opportunity to transition to the Eastern Seaboard Regional route after training.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive 53' dry van trailers on OTR routes
  • Participate in a 4-6 week OTR training program with a trainer
  • Transition to the Eastern Seaboard Regional route after training
  • Meet weekly mileage requirements
  • Adhere to company safety policies and procedures
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Trainee pay: $650/week during training period
  • Mileage pay: $0.55 - $0.65 per mile based on experience
  • Weekly earnings: $1,200 - $1,400
  • Additional pay: $15 per stop
  • Comprehensive benefits package after 30 days, including medical, dental, 401(k), and paid time off (PTO)
Requirements:
  • Must be at least 21 years old with a valid Class A CDL License
  • Graduation from an accredited truck driving school with a minimum of 120 hours of training
  • Must have held a driver's license for at least the last 12 months without major violations
  • Clean driving record: No at-fault accidents, major tickets, or suspensions in the past 3 years
  • No prior terminations from previous employment
  • No DUIs in the last 5 years, or more than two DUIs in a lifetime (if the offense occurred before obtaining a Class A License)
  • Ability to pass a urine and hair pre-employment drug screen
  • Employment gaps: Must have no large gaps in employment; a maximum of 6 months in the past year and 1 year in the past 3 years
