Key Responsibilities- Assist with the deployment of departmental goals that support the organization's mission, vision, and values.
- Carry out day-to-day operational components of the unit, including input on hiring, firing, and interviewing.
- Plan, coordinate, and direct effective coordination of care between units, nurses, and providers.
- Perform effectively in emergency situations within the unit and assist with patient care as needed.
- Serve as a resource to staff, acting as a mentor and coach to staff, medical personnel, patients, and family members.
- Assist in guiding staff in quality improvement efforts for all shifts.
- Identify and provide verbal disciplinary action, counseling, and remediation with staff as needed.
- Work with personnel to ensure staff have access to and are appropriately utilizing supplies.
- Provide input to the Nurse Manager on budget preparation.
- Promote intra- and interdepartmental communication.
- Ensure clinical care is aligned with evidence-based practice.
- Leadership rounds on patients.
- Respond to customer complaints in a timely manner.
- Identify high-risk social situations and address them appropriately.
- Adhere to all regulatory and Texas Board of Nursing standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a Master's degree in Nursing.
- Current State of Texas license or temporary/compact license to practice professional nursing.
- Certification in Basic Life Support.
- Professional certification in clinical area or management within one year of exam eligibility.
- Three or more years of experience in clinical area of practice.
- Demonstrated leadership experience.
