Job Summary

Shaw Industries is seeking a highly skilled Quality Manager to oversee the operations of the Quality Department and testing lab for color compounding and grass. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality management and be able to drive a culture of quality-focused associates at all levels of production within the facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage Quality Department Operations: Oversee the day-to-day activities of the Quality Department, including testing and inspection of products.
  • Lead Quality Improvement Initiatives: Identify and implement process improvements to reduce plant off-quality and improve overall quality performance.
  • Coordinate Quality Claims: Work with suppliers and customers to resolve quality-related issues and ensure timely resolution.
  • Participate in New Product Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop new products and manufacturing processes.
  • Interface with External Groups: Communicate with sales, marketing, R&D, and technical development teams to ensure quality alignment.
  • Lead Plant-Wide Initiatives: Serve on the Plant Leadership Team and contribute to strategic decision-making.
  • Manage Quality Systems: Ensure the accuracy, adequacy, and effectiveness of the SQS/ISO 9001 system.
  • Support Safety and Environmental Initiatives: Understand and support all SAFE, SMS, TPM, Lean Six Sigma, and Environmental/ISO 14001 efforts.
Requirements
  • Quality Management Experience: Proven experience in a quality management role, with a strong background in quality principles and practices.
  • Manufacturing Experience: Prior experience in a quality manufacturing environment, with a strong understanding of production processes and quality control.
  • Education and Certifications: A 4-year college degree in a related field, such as engineering or quality, and certifications such as Green Belt or Black Belt, or Lead Auditor certification.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced Excel knowledge and strong background in PowerPoint or other spreadsheet and presentation software, as well as familiarity with statistical techniques and software such as Minitab or SPSS.
