About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Instructional Designer to join our team at Maine's Public Universities. As an Instructional Designer, you will play a critical role in supporting faculty in creating effective learning environments that are informed by learning outcomes and evidence-based instructional strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide course design support to faculty, including the development of digital resources and multimedia materials.
  • Assist faculty in the creation and use of software, hardware, data, and collaboration tools to support educational goals.
  • Manage the development and delivery of accessible educational content for blended, flipped, and online courses.
  • Collaborate with faculty to design and implement effective learning experiences that meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in education and apply this knowledge to support faculty in their teaching practices.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Education or a related field and at least 3-5 years of professional experience in instructional design or a related field.
  • Experience providing formal instruction and developing course materials that meet accessibility standards.
  • Current knowledge of research on technology and learning, including learning management systems and educational software.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with faculty and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to collaboration and customer service.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with learning management systems, educational software, and other technologies to support teaching and learning.
  • Knowledge of and experience with accessibility standards, including Section 508 and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
  • Experience designing and delivering professional development programs for faculty and staff.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively.
