Estimated Salary: $45,000 - $60,000 per yearA Lab Intern plays a crucial role in planning for the most cost-effective utilization of materials. Utilizing knowledge of material science, they recommend engineering and manufacturing changes to achieve the company's design objectives in the most economical and safest manner possible.
Key Responsibilities:- Receiving, identifying, and safely storing materials to be tested.
- Performing laboratory testing of concrete, soils, and asphalt according to established requirements.
- Recording test results and reporting them accurately.
- Organizing and storing materials and data according to laboratory policy.
- Maintaining clean and organized work areas.
- Performing equipment maintenance as per manufacturer or industry standards.
- Maintaining equipment records.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- We will provide training certification centers such as ASTM to gain recertification, certification, and additional skills to complete assigned tasks.
- Technicians will be certified to conduct all tests instructed.
- The ability to obtain certifications and renew certification before they expire is mandatory.
- Demonstrating a high level of organization and prioritization for tasks is essential.
- Flexibility to effectively deal with changing priorities and timelines through analytical problem-solving is required.
- Proven time management and follow-through skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks with tight deadlines are necessary.
- The ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team-oriented environment is vital.
- Superior written and oral communication skills and effective listening skills are expected.
- Maintaining a tactful, mature, and professional demeanor with well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with diverse personnel, is crucial.
- A High School Diploma is required, and the candidate must be at least 18 years old.
- The ability to read, understand, and follow ASTM, AASHTO, DOT county, municipalities, or any other agency testing methods is essential.
- Experience in a high-volume environment is desirable.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft software such as Word and Excel are required.
