Job Summary
The Budget Analyst will be responsible for maintaining the general ledger, preparing financial reports, and providing budgetary support to the Budget and Resource Planning Director. This position will also assist with the development and management of the College's capital budget, extract information from various data sources, and organize data into reports and dashboards to provide summary-level data for resource allocation decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Monthly review of budget and actual variances, prepare journal entries and account reconciliations as needed.
- Assist with development, and management of the College's capital budget, to include submitting drawdown requests to governmental agencies.
- Extract information from various data sources and organize data into reports and dashboards to provide summary-level data to provide analysis to users for resource allocation decision making.
- General ledger module leader responsibilities to include, but not limited to, assigning users general ledger budgetary access, creation and maintenance of general ledger accounts and general ledger account queries.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting or business.
- Minimum of five years of general accounting/budget experience required.
- Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and practical knowledge of financial systems and internal financial controls and procedures required.
- Ability to work accurately with large financial data sources. Strong analytical skills and ability to handle sensitive information with complete confidentiality.
- Strong technical knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite software, including experience with developing reports and dashboards.
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication and customer service skills required. Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with various constituents, including all levels of management, faculty, and the general public.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA or other relevant professional certification.
- Experience with reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, Informer), integrated database systems, query writing.
- Knowledge of governmental and not-for-profit accounting.
- Two of the five years of experience in a position at or relevant to an environment of higher education.
