Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Food Service Lead to join our team at the Wildwood Correctional Complex. As a key member of our institution's food service team, you will be responsible for leading a team of kitchen workers in the preparation and production of meals for approximately 500 prisoners and staff per meal.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of kitchen workers in the preparation and production of meals, ensuring that all meals are prepared to a high standard and meet the dietary needs of prisoners and staff.
  • Maintain security and control of prisoners in the absence of Correctional Officer staff, ensuring the safety and security of all individuals in the kitchen.
  • Oversee the production and preparation of all bakery items, including breads, pastries, and other baked goods.
  • Ensure that all modified diets are properly prepared, including vegetarian, diabetic, allergy, and religious diets.
  • Work closely with the Medical Department to ensure that all dietary needs are met.
Requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, inmates, and the public.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow directions.
  • Coach, mentor, assist, and counsel inmates as necessary.
  • Ability to impartially make decisions based on the actions and behavior of prisoners and resolve conflict in a firm but fair manner.
  • Plan and manage resources, set priorities, and make competent problem-solving decisions.
  • Ability to follow the directions of Supervisors, Facility Administration, and Security leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Food handlers certification.
Working Environment

The Wildwood Correctional Complex is a state adult correctional institution housing inmates of all custody levels. This position works in the Administration offices of Building 10 and will have limited exposure to the offender population.
