About Amazon Medical Project

Amazon Medical Project is a U.S. based nonprofit organization that funds and supports the Yanamono Medical Clinic in the Amazon River basin of northeastern Peru. The clinic was founded in 1990 by Dr. Linnea J. Smith, M.D. and is staffed year-round by local clinicians. The Clinic provides primary medical care and preventive medicine to community members that live in this rural region of the Amazon.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and creative individual to assist in our marketing initiatives. As a social media intern, you will play a key role in developing and implementing our social media strategy, creating engaging content, and analyzing campaign results.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the design and execution of social media campaigns to increase brand awareness and engagement
  • Manage and maintain our social media presence across multiple platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn
  • Create and distribute content such as blogs, infographics, videos, and press releases on social media and through traditional news outlets
  • Track social media engagement to identify high-performing ideas and campaigns for scalability
  • Perform social media marketing research to stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices
  • Assist in influencer campaign strategy and execution
  • Respond to comments and DMs on social media platforms in a timely and professional manner
  • Assist with public relations efforts, including media outreach and press releases
  • Brainstorm and research ideas for original content that resonates with our target audience
  • Create compelling graphics to share across social channels
  • Write social media captions that speak to our target audience and align with our brand message
  • Help create and edit short-form videos to showcase our work and impact
  • Develop new strategies for increasing engagement and reach on social media
  • Assist with photo/video content shoots to capture high-quality visuals for our social media channels
Requirements:
  • Experience in content management and creation
  • Basic copywriting skills and ability to deliver creative content
  • Familiarity with content scheduling tools, such as Hootsuite or similar

Compensation & Time Commitment:

This is an unpaid internship, but school credit can be applied. Hours are flexible, with an average 3-5 hours per week commitment preferred.
