Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation: Prepare food according to a planned menu, following tested recipes and ensuring the finished product meets quality standards.
  • Food Service: Assist in the portioning and serving of food items, maintaining a clean and organized service area.
  • Cleaning and Sanitation: Clean and store eating utensils, dishes, glassware, trays, pots, pans, and preparation equipment, as well as perform daily clean-up of the kitchen and service areas.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate various pieces of kitchen equipment, such as dish machines, slicers, choppers, ovens, and other cooking equipment.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to students and staff, responding to their needs and concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other food service staff to ensure smooth operation of the kitchen and service areas.
  • Adaptability: Be flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced kitchen environment, responding to changing circumstances and priorities as needed.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
  • Physical Abilities: Ability to stand for prolonged periods, walk, stoop, crouch, bend, squat, push/pull, and reach to perform various job duties.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, students, and building staff in English.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of food service procedures, sanitation and safety protocols, and ability to operate kitchen equipment.
Working Conditions

The Food Service Worker will work in a fast-paced kitchen environment, with frequent exposure to heat, cold, and noise. The position requires standing for prolonged periods, walking, and performing various physical tasks.
