Job Summary

Under the direction of management and physician leadership, the Medical Assistant III will perform and oversee functions related to clinical activities, including maintaining patient flow, assisting with primary and preventative healthcare, and performing technical procedures and lab protocols under physician/provider direction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist physicians and providers with primary healthcare and patient care management.
  • Collaborate with clerical staff to optimize operations and patient flow.
  • Interact with outside healthcare facilities and agencies to coordinate patient care and insurance.
  • Maintain updated competencies and demonstrate ability to speak to leadership and accreditation bodies about process and workflow.
  • Perform front office duties as needed.
  • Provide coverage in other departments or locations as needed.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and support patient and family-centered care.
  • Perform and be formally assigned two additional responsibilities, which should be at least 20% or more of dedicated time:
    • Primary Care gaps in care identification, outreach, and chart preparation.
    • Residency clinic role.
    • High-level disinfection.
    • Designated new hire preceptor.
    • Role in practice participating in or leading special programs/grants.
    • Care management (PDCMs).
    • Qualified language interpreter.
    • Super User for EPIC or specific competency.
    • Advanced provider support – assisting with complex procedures and/or infusion/chemo scheduling.
    • Multi-site/flexible float pool assignment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited MA program, including a clinical rotation, or equivalent experience.
  • 1 year of relevant experience (12 months MA work experience or a completed Beaumont MA internship and 6 months MA work experience).
  • 2 years of relevant experience (2-3 years of MA experience preferred).
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA American Heart Association or ARC American Red Cross.
  • CRT-At least one Certification from preferred list.
  • CRT-Medical Assistant, Certified (CMA) – AAMA American Association of Medical Assistants, Medical Assistant, Registered (RMA) – AMT American Medical Technologists, Medical Assistant, Certified (NCMA) – NCCT National Center for Competency Testing, Medical Assistant, Certified (CCMA) – NHA National Health career Association, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) – STATE_MI State of Michigan, or License Practical Nursing (LPN) – STATE_MI State of Michigan.
