Position Overview:

The Automated Scenic Technician is tasked with the construction of automated stage components, which encompasses machining, welding, and carpentry skills. This role also involves the assembly, installation, and integration of automation features, all while adhering to stringent safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Construct automated stage components utilizing machining, welding, and carpentry techniques
  • Exemplify inclusive practices and uphold the values of Oregon Shakespeare Festival
  • Conduct inspections, maintenance, and repairs on automation systems
  • Set up and oversee 3-D printing and CNC operations
  • Participate in the organization and cleanliness of work areas
Additional Responsibilities:

Engage in meetings and safety training sessions, interact with patrons, assist in marketing initiatives, and provide mentorship to colleagues as necessary.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or vocational training in technical theatre or machining
  • A minimum of three years' experience in machining and metal fabrication
  • Expertise in the fabrication of wood, steel, and aluminum
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Capability to interpret construction and mechanical design schematics
Physical Requirements:

Candidates must be able to lift substantial weights, ascend ladders, and perform physically demanding tasks for prolonged periods.

Special Hours Requirements:

Availability for overtime, night shifts, and weekend work is essential, particularly during load-ins and technical rehearsals.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with SolidWorks drafting software is advantageous.

Compensation:

$26.75/hour (Nonexempt)
