Summary of Position:
Independently execute accounting functions related to the General Ledger of designated fund groups and the University's Financial Statements. Assess and maintain records pertaining to Fixed Assets and property accounting within the Finance Office. Conduct analysis, auditing, and reconciliation of accounts while assisting with internal audits as assigned. This position requires on-site presence, with potential for remote work one day a week after the probationary period.

Familiarity with higher education and/or fixed assets. Experience in managing daily accounting transactions, preparing financial statements, and working with financial spreadsheets. Proficiency with Ellucian Banner is preferred.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage data within the General Ledger of assigned fund groups / Financial Statements. This encompasses daily, monthly, and annual data-control tasks, verifying receipt accuracy, and completing departmental journal entries.
Conduct monthly bank statement reconciliations.
Manage and maintain Fixed Assets systems (asset additions, disposals, depreciation, revaluations) and ensure reconciliation with the general ledger.
Perform accounting tasks, maintain records, and monitor expenditures related to capital projects.
Conduct annual inventory audits (retail, fixed assets, change funds) across various campus areas.
Prepare reconciliations and financial statements for all assigned fund groups.
Recommend and implement technological solutions for daily accounting processes.
Assist with year-end closing and the initiation of the new fiscal year.
Prepare state and federal tax returns as assigned.
Manage FOAP requests in the ERP system for designated fund groups, creating new Fund, Org, or account codes, and updating and approving user access as necessary.
Ensure the integrity of financial computer systems to accurately track and record financial transactions.
Analyze internal accounts, assist departments with financial transactions, prepare annual financial statements, and maintain retention records.
Support and serve as backup for other accounting functions.
Cross-train within the Finance Office to complete other assigned accounting tasks.
Assist in developing training materials and conducting training sessions related to the university accounting system.
Perform all duties in compliance with applicable University policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
Report directly to the designated supervisor.
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Exhibit strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Marginal Duties/Responsibilities:
Assist in assessing the impact of new or revised GASB pronouncements on assigned fund groups and propose necessary changes for compliance.
