Job Overview

Position Title: Heavy Truck and Equipment Mechanic

Department: General Service/Vehicle Maintenance

Employment Type: Full-Time

Salary: $28.44 per hour

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 6:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on the municipal fleet and related mechanical equipment.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and various hand, electric, and pneumatic tools for effective repairs.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal vehicle performance.
  • Repair and replace components including brakes, engines, electrical systems, and hydraulics.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Provide emergency assistance for disabled vehicles as necessary.
  • Participate in ongoing training and maintain required certifications.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED, with specialized training in mechanics or a related field.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is mandatory.
  • Three years of relevant experience in vehicle maintenance and repair.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with team members and the public.

Physical Requirements:

The role involves frequent physical activity, including lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in various environmental conditions.
