Position Overview:
As a Surgical Nurse Navigator at West Cancer Center, you will play a crucial role within our multidisciplinary team, delivering compassionate care to individuals undergoing surgical interventions for cancer. Surgical Nurse Navigators are registered nurses who oversee the patient’s surgical journey, emphasizing education regarding their condition, clarifying treatment pathways, managing symptoms and side effects, facilitating access to essential resources, and offering emotional support to both patients and their caregivers. This role involves a daytime schedule, ensuring no night, weekend, or holiday shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct patient care and coordinate throughout the surgical process and post-operative recovery.
- Collaborate with surgeons, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to formulate and execute tailored treatment plans.
- Educate patients and their families about their surgical options, recovery processes, and available support resources.
- Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as necessary.
- Provide emotional support and guidance to patients and their families, nurturing a compassionate care environment.
- Current RN license to practice in the state where work is performed.
- Minimum of one year of nursing experience.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
