Job Summary

The North Clackamas School District is seeking a dedicated and bilingual Paraeducator II to support the education of students in a culturally responsive environment. This role involves assisting teachers with instruction, supervision, and parent communication, as well as providing English Language Development (ELD) programmatic requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with teachers to provide instructional support and supervision to students in a learning environment.
  • Assist with ELD programmatic requirements, including determining eligibility for EL Services and supporting students who are acquiring English.
  • Provide translation and interpretation services to bilingual families, including registration, parent-teacher conferences, and IEP meetings.
  • Establish relationships with bilingual families to support communication regarding student progress and academic achievement.
  • Exercise discretion to protect student confidentiality and follow school/district policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Successful experience working with culturally diverse families and communities, or demonstrated commitment to strengthening engagement of a diverse community.
  • Meets District assessment of bilingual skills in the required language(s).
  • Successful completion of an Associate's Degree or two years of post-high school education, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in the proper use of the English language to include annunciation, spelling, and syntax.
  • Able to work in an environment with frequent interruptions and changing tasks and priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree in an appropriate and related field of study.
  • Two years of experience working with children in a learning environment.
  • Licensed or certified translator/interpreter.
