About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our Core Services / Platform Engineering team at Walmart Global Tech. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and implementing cutting-edge solutions that drive business growth and innovation.

About the Team:

Our team works closely with our US stores and eCommerce business to better serve customers by empowering team members, stores, and merchants with technological innovation. We focus on delivering core capabilities that cut across Data Ventures products, and we're seeking entrepreneurial individuals to help drive data productization from concept to reality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and participate in medium- to large-scale projects by reviewing project requirements, translating requirements into technical solutions, gathering requested information, writing, and developing code, conducting unit testing, and communicating status and issues to team members and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with project teams and cross-functional teams to design and develop scalable, high-performance software solutions.
  • Take ownership of full-stack development, including front-end and back-end components, and utilize expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and microservices to create robust and efficient applications.
  • Design and optimize databases using SQL and NoSQL technologies for data storage and retrieval, and implement event-driven architectures using Kafka and ensure seamless integration with other systems.
  • Work with cloud platforms such as GCP and Azure to build scalable and secure applications, and utilize the ELK stack for log analysis and monitoring of system performance.
  • Develop and optimize queries using Big Query to analyze large datasets, and collaborate with the team to perform code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and ensure high-quality code delivery.

Requirements:

  • At least 12+ years of relevant experience in building highly resilient, highly scalable systems.
  • A good understanding of Java and Microservices.
  • Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, Cloud (Azure/GCP/AWS), Kafka (or other messaging service), Memcached/Redis or any caching technologies, relational DBMS (MySQL, Oracle etc.).
  • Should be hands-on writing/reviewing design & code.
  • Understand the product and project management space with Agile methodologies.
  • CI/CD development environments/tools: Git, Maven, Jenkins.
  • Demonstrated end-to-end ownership for development and design of at least one cloud-based project - Experience in building extensible platforms, data pipelines are desirable.
  • Experience in internationalization is a plus.
  • Strong desire to drive change, and ability to adapt to change quickly. Proficient in new and emerging technologies.
  • Ability to balance the long-term big picture and short-term implications of design decisions.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills - including negotiation, facilitation, and consensus building skills; ability to influence and persuade, without direct control.
  • Mentoring/coaching Senior staff engineers and other Engineers.
  • Focus on reusability, frameworks, patterns and configurations tools for faster development.
  • Practitioner of Agile (Scrum) methodology
