Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Veterinary Assistant to join our team at Heartland Veterinary Partners LLC. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our veterinarians in delivering high-quality medical services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist veterinarians with patient care and treatment, including monitoring hospitalized pets and preparing patients for surgery.
• Perform routine in-house laboratory work, including taking and developing radiographs, and preparing specimens for outside laboratories.
• Maintain inventory, prepare prescriptions, and administer medications and anesthesia as directed by the veterinarian.
• Provide basic animal handling and restrain animals during exams, and assist with surgical procedures.
• Clean and maintain exam rooms, treatment areas, and lab spaces, and restock supplies as needed.

Requirements:

• Previous veterinary experience preferred, but not required.
• Ability to work on weekends as required, and lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds.
• Basic math skills and ability to calculate medication dosages, and basic computer skills with familiarity with MS office applications.
• Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
