Ultrasound Technologist

The Ultrasound Technologist/Sonographer provides diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound and related diagnostic procedures. This position is responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment, performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations using sonography, and maintaining a high standard of medical ethics at all times.
Key Responsibilities- Greets patients by confirming patient identification and reviewing ultrasound requests.
- Performs all requested sonographic examinations as ordered by the attending physician.
- Prepares preliminary reports and contacts referring physicians when required.
- Coordinates work schedule with Departmental Director and/or scheduling desk to assure workload coverage.
- Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the sonographer's care.
- Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic or Ultrasound Technology training in an AMA-approved school.
- Registration with the ARRT or registry eligible.
- Basic Life Support certification.
- Ability to create a caring, compassionate relationship with patients and families.
- Ability to collaborate with the healthcare team to use evidence-based practice in providing care.
