We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Psych Associate to provide exceptional care to children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients with emotional disturbances and multiple disabilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain Competency:
    • Attend a minimum of 2 unit-based or institute-wide in-services yearly.
    • Learn and utilize up-to-date technology and practices in patient care delivery.
  • Patient Support:
    • Encourage patients to perform or assist them in activities of daily living.
    • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment.
    • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of the milieu program for consistent, therapeutic care.
    • Manage crisis situations effectively using positive approaches.
    • Assist nursing staff in providing physical care.
  • Documentation and Communication:
    • Document in the medical record according to established policies.
    • Maintain ongoing communication with the treatment team and charge nurse regarding patient observations and care provided.
    • Participate in interdisciplinary activities, including treatment team meetings, staff meetings, and co-worker feedback processes.
  • Organizational Support:
    • Assist in preparing and organizing paperwork on the night shift to ensure smooth care coordination throughout the day.
    • Take initiative to maintain the unit environment.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Proficient in verbal and written English communication.
  • Physically capable of providing direct care to unpredictable, potentially violent patients, including lifting and supporting them, and operating equipment like wheelchairs and stretchers.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • CCM training required within 60 days of hire and annually thereafter.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire/transfer.
  • New York State Fingerprint Check (provisional work for 30 days).
Clearances Required:
  • NYS Staff Exclusion List (NYSEL)
  • NYS Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse (NYSCR)
