The Mail Operations Clerk is responsible for executing detailed and specific procedures in completing a variety of repetitive clerical tasks performed in a prescribed or slightly varied sequence. This includes coding and organizing documents within a comprehensive alphabetical filing system, which may involve simple postings to individual accounts, managing incoming mail, calculating and recording charges to departmental accounts, and operating basic office equipment such as photocopiers, facsimiles, multi-line phone systems, and mailing machines, alongside minimal computer programs. Subject-matter expertise is not required; however, the clerk must exercise judgment in selecting the appropriate procedure for each task.

Responsible for completing necessary paperwork and documentation. Must efficiently sort incoming mail by correspondence type, symbol, room number, office, or individual name, and ensure delivery to designated mail stops. Ensures safety within the scope of work through proper equipment usage and adherence to safety protocols. Conducts quality control checks to confirm that all mail is directed to the correct location. Communicates professionally and courteously with co-workers and federal employees in and out of the mailroom. Completes and maintains all required training as mandated by Didlake.

Requirements

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Skills and Abilities:

Minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience in mail center operations within the last five years. Proficient in utilizing GSA's locator system to identify mail recipients. Must qualify for building pass and security clearance. Basic keyboarding skills are required. Adequate communication skills, including the ability to read and write basic English correspondence. Ability to recognize and sequence letters and numbers. Must maintain a positive and professional demeanor towards the public and co-workers.
