Join Transdev as a Senior Transit Mechanic

Transdev is on the lookout for a Senior Transit Mechanic to enhance our Fixed Route/Paratransit service.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair various components of transit vehicles.
  • Conduct inspections and identify issues on all assigned transit vehicles and equipment.
  • Service and repair all assigned transit vehicles along with related mechanical equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections on transit vehicles in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Implement upgrades and modifications to coach systems and equipment.
  • Execute road calls and provide on-the-road repairs as necessary.
  • Guide and oversee the work of junior mechanics on the team.
  • Ensure a clean and organized workspace.

Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Possession of a Commercial Driving License with passenger and airbrake endorsements.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications.
  • Master Mechanic certification.

Experience:
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in the maintenance and repair of heavy-duty transit equipment.

Essential Skills:
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Comprehensive understanding of mechanical systems related to transit vehicles.
  • Ability to interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and maintenance manuals.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints, schematics, and mechanical diagrams.
  • Capability to produce routine reports and documentation.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to mentor and monitor the work of others.

Travel Requirements:

As necessary for the role.


Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • Must pass drug testing and a background check.
  • Must successfully complete a DOT physical examination.

Physical Demands:
  • Ability to work flexible shifts as required.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands for manipulation.
  • Occasionally required to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in various environmental conditions.
