Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Excellence and Patient Care
- Conduct thorough examinations of patients, including history-taking and system reviews, and administer appropriate tests and measures.
- Evaluate patients to make informed clinical decisions based on collected data.
- Formulate patient diagnoses or problem lists based on observed signs and symptoms.
- Establish patient prognoses, outlining expected improvement levels and timelines.
- Collaborate with patients and families to create care plans with specific, measurable goals.
- Implement and manage patient interventions, including overseeing support staff.
- Provide education and training to patients and their families.
- Complete necessary documentation and communication regarding patient care.
- Develop and execute discharge plans in collaboration with relevant parties.
- Work with hospital departments and community organizations to ensure coordinated care.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
- Meet departmental productivity benchmarks.
- Supervise Physical Therapist Assistants and Therapy Technicians.
Program and Professional Development
- Oversee clinical supervision of students.
- Facilitate smooth departmental operations.
- Engage in performance improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to program development and participate in interdisciplinary committees.
- Promote awareness of rehabilitation and Physical Therapy within the hospital and community.
- Take responsibility for personal professional growth and understanding of clinical practices and regulations.
- Fulfill educational requirements necessary for obtaining a Physical Therapy license.
- Hold a current and valid license to practice as a Physical Therapist in Iowa.
- Maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or acquire it within three months of employment.
- Possess fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Demonstrate multicultural sensitivity.
- Exhibit basic computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office.
- Maintain a patient-centered focus.
- Utilize standard equipment necessary for performing essential job functions.
