Job Summary

The Village of Orland Park is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Worker I to join our team. This is a full-time position responsible for performing a variety of skilled and semi-skilled duties in maintenance and construction relative to Village-owned properties, natural resources, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on buildings, HVAC systems, aquatic facilities, and other equipment
  • Conduct forestry, landscaping, horticulture, and playground maintenance
  • Operate light and heavy-duty motor vehicle equipment and tools, including pickup and dump trucks, backhoes, and aerial lifts
  • Perform general maintenance duties, including installation, measuring, grading, and repair of concrete work, rough carpentry, demo, light plumbing and electrical repairs
  • Order parts, equipment, materials, and supplies as required
  • Transport and deliver goods and equipment, and use various technology to track work status and prepare forms and time audits

Qualifications and Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1-3 years of experience in a parks, forestry, facilities, and/or aquatic facility environment or other closely related experience
  • Prior experience with building maintenance and HVAC systems maintenance is highly preferred
  • Class 'A' Commercial Driver's License with air brake, trailer, and tanker endorsements required within 6 months
  • Formal HVAC/Building Maintenance training, Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI), ISA Certified Arborist, and/or Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certifications are preferred

Working Conditions

  • Frequently works outside and is exposed to wet, hot, cold, and/or humid conditions
  • Occasionally exposed to mechanical moving parts, agents, and compounds that could give off fumes
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds, and push or pull up to 100 pounds

  • Hourly pay rate: $25.26 and $37.85 per hour ($52,535.97 and $78,725.91 annually) based on qualifications and work experience
