Job Description
We are seeking an experienced SMT technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and quality of part placement and soldering in our manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Use a microscope to verify correct part placement and orientation.
- Manually align parts before soldering and perform post-re-flow inspection and touch-up.
- Identify and touch up poor wetted solder joints, solder voids/insufficient solder, solder shorts/bridges, misaligned parts/leads, tombstoned and/or billboarded components, and any other solder defects that may occur during the SMT operation.
- Operate Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) equipment to aid in identifying solder defects, and differentiate between false calls and real issues.
- Read instructions and identify standard SMT components.
- Work in a fast-paced environment with the possibility of overtime.
- Sit for long periods and maintain focus on tedious tasks.
- Use rework equipment such as hot air pencils, hot plates, and BGA removal tools (ERSA or other OEM).
- Run, solder, and tack down jumper wires on redesign boards (a plus).
Qualifications
- IPC-610 Certification (expired or active is a MUST).
- IPC J-STD-001 Certification (expired or active is a MUST).
- Experience using AOI equipment.
- Familiarity with standard SMT components.
- Ability to perform tedious tasks for extended periods.
- Experience with rework equipment.
- Experience with running, soldering, and tacking down jumper wires (preferred).
