Job Title: Orthopaedic Clinical Practitioner

Job Overview:

The Orthopaedic Clinical Practitioner will collaborate closely with the Lead Physician Assistant in Orthopaedics and will operate under the general oversight of Orthopaedic surgeons. Key responsibilities include managing essential hospital documentation, ordering and interpreting lab tests and imaging studies, developing treatment strategies for orthopaedic evaluations, performing both therapeutic and diagnostic interventions, assisting in surgical procedures, and providing on-call support. The Orthopaedic Clinical Practitioner is expected to advocate for patients and contribute positively to the continuum of care, ensuring compliance with relevant state and federal regulations.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Engage professionally with colleagues, visitors, and staff in accordance with organizational values
  • Assess orthopaedic patients under the supervision of Orthopaedic surgeons and create treatment plans
  • Prepare patients for surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary evaluations and consultations are conducted
  • Assist in surgical settings with first-assisting duties, wound closure, and post-operative management
  • Conduct therapeutic and diagnostic procedures
  • Prescribe medications with an active DEA license
  • Provide on-call support at a designated trauma facility
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams and maintain effective communication with staff, patients, and their families
  • Maintain all professional licenses and certifications, fulfilling continuing medical education requirements
  • Participate in research initiatives, evidence-based practices, and quality improvement projects
  • Engage in meetings, educational activities, and serve as a mentor for others
Required Competencies:
  • Comprehensive medical knowledge and prescribing capabilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and technological skills
  • Expertise in identifying and treating orthopaedic injuries
  • Proficiency in procedures such as splinting, wound closure, and joint aspiration
  • Experience in orthopaedic trauma is preferred
