Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Energy Engineer to lead and support energy management initiatives across our organization. The successful candidate will spearhead projects focused on energy efficiency, retro-commissioning, heat pump design and implementation, and sustainability strategies for new building projects.

The Principal Energy Engineer will be responsible for updating the Energy Roadmap and driving our energy management programs toward operational excellence. The role will also involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with long-term sustainability goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the initiation of energy-focused projects, including retro-commissioning, low-temperature hot water conversion, and HVAC system upgrades.
  • Develop and implement energy efficiency initiatives aimed at reducing energy consumption and lowering operational costs for key customers.
  • Collaborate with sustainability teams, Facilities & Engineering, Site Automation, Design & Construction, and external vendors to ensure project success and compliance with energy standards and regulations.
  • Provide expert guidance on energy-efficient design and sustainability principles for new construction projects.
  • Develop and manage demand response programs to reduce peak demand charges.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of experience in energy engineering, with a strong focus on HVAC systems, energy efficiency, and sustainability.
  • Extensive knowledge of low-temperature hot water conversion and heat pump design and operation.
  • Hands-on experience with retro-commissioning and implementing energy management programs.

Preferred Skills:

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.), Certified Energy Engineer (CEM), Project Management Professional (PMP) and Master's degree in Engineering with a preference for Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience working with utility companies and energy incentive programs.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
